Why We Have To Reduce The Amount Of Sugar We Take

Through a comparative study made on two different groups researchers have found the negative effect of taking sugar for a long time. It reduces the good cholesterol called HDL. It makes an imbalance in the levels of triglycerides and lipoproteins. As a result, a person consuming added sugar on a regular basis gets more vulnerable to heart diseases.

Researchers found an alarming yet cautionary information from the study by surveying 6000 people. They found that almost 16 percent people got their average daily calories from added sugar.

Though the least amount of sugar intake of the surveyed people was 3 teaspoons, the greatest amount of intake was to an unbelievable one. It was 46 teaspoons daily.

For men and women, there are different limits of sugar intake allowed by nutritionist. For men it is nine teaspoons and for women it is six teaspoons and here sugar means additive and processed sugar.

Though some states have already introduced taxation on sugary drinks, it is the awareness of the food companies that may help reduce obesity and heart disease. If the food companies act accordingly after knowing all the researched facts about sugar, they may start adding less sugar.

Government can reduce the consumption of sugar. If half a cent sales tax is imposed on sugary soft drinks, the consumption of these drinks would reduce 10 gallons annually.

It is not heart disease alone but other complicated health problems that are also connected to sugar intake. It may lead you to become vulnerable to obesity, diabetes, hypertension and even stroke. All these facts are being found in different researches conducted by different organizations.
